Last Day at SendGrid

Today is my last day at SendGrid.

I spent the last year of my life as a Developer Evangelist for SendGrid.

I remember the day I applied. I was going to apply as an engineer. I wanted to work on a large scale system. I felt I was ready. And then, I saw the job for a Developer Evangelist role. I did not know such a job existed. I was already very involved in my Riverside community at the time, I enjoyed open source, and I loved to travel. I stared at the screen for 20 minutes before deciding to apply for the Developer Evangelist role.

It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I have never learned so much in a year. I have never met so many great people in a year. I have never traveled to so many amazing cities in a year. I have never grown so much professionally and personally in a year.

And the team. I’ve never worked with a greater group of individuals - both as people and as professionals. I am one of the lucky ones.

It was a tough decision to resign. I am leaving because of a startup opportunity I could not pass up. I'll write about that in a few days, and my decision around that.

If you are thinking about doing Developer Evangelism, do it. It will grow your life and your career.

Keep on hacking.
